Celebrity-Owned Luxury Islands

Celebrity-Owned Luxury Islands
What do you do when you are a celebrity with an extra $10 million lying around? You buy your own private island, of course. Some of the world’s most famous actors, musicians and businesspeople own their own private islands. Some use their islands as a paparazzi-free getaway, while others rent them out to wealthy travellers.
Who is the most famous person who owns a private island?
Necker Island, located in the British Virgin Islands, belongs to “celebrity businessman” Sir Richard Branson (founder of the Virgin Group of companies). Boasting 74 acres of pristine tropical land, all surrounded by coral reefs and crested by shimmering white sandy beaches.

Johnny Depp is near the top of list. The Pirates of the Caribbean star owns a 45-acre tropical island called Little Hall’s Pond Cay in the Caribbean. The Lone Ranger actor says that Marlon Brando taught him how to buy an island. Depp takes advantage of the privacy of owning an island and rarely shares his experiences with the media.

Guess what’s the one thing that is common between Shakira, Spanish musician Alejandro Sanz, and the rock band Pink Floyd’s former member Roger Waters? No, it’s not the passion for music – it’s a 700-acre Bahamian island that is shared by the trio.

Do you think that it is excessive to own your own private island?
